I. We believe that the Scriptures, both the Old and New Testament, were given by inspiration of God, and are the only infallible rule of faith and practice. This means they are entirely verbally inspired, the Word of God and are inerrant in the original writings. 2 Tim. 3:16, 17; 2 Peter 1:20, 21
II. We believe in one God -- the Creator and Ruler of the universe, eternally existing in a divine and incomprehensible Trinity -- the Father, the Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit -- equally possessing every divine perfection. Each executes distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. Deut. 6:4; Isaiah 45:22; 1 Cor. 8:6; 2 Cor. 13:14; Matt. 28:19; 1 John 5:7
III. We believe that our first parents were created holy and upright; that they fell from this condition by voluntary transgression and that in consequence, the whole human race is by nature and choice in trespasses and sins. Rom. 5:12; 5:19
IV. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Eternal Son of God, became man, without ceasing to be God, having been conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary, in order that He might reveal God and redeem sinful man. John 1:1, 2; John 1:14; Luke 1:35; Col. 1:14
V. We believe in the substitutionary death and bodily resurrection of the Son of God; and that salvation is attained only through repentance, and faith in Him. Rom. 5:8; 1 Cor. 15:3, 4; Acts 4:12
VI. We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by the grace of God and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the cleansing from and the forgiveness of our sins. Eph. 2:8-10; John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; 1 Peter 1:18, 19
VII. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ ascended to heaven, and is now exalted at the right hand of God, the Father, where as our High Priest He fulfills the ministry of Representative, Intercessor, and Advocate. Acts 1:9; Heb. 9:24; Heb.7:25; Rom. 8:34; 1 John 2:1, 2
VIII. We believe that all the redeemed are kept by God’s power and are secure in Christ forever. John 6:37-40; John 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1; Rom. 8:38-39; 1 Cor. 1:4-8; 1 Peter 1:5; 1 John 2:19
IX. We believe that the saved should rejoice in a personal confidence of a present salvation which rests in the manifestation of the indwelling Christ and the veracity of the Word of God. Rom. 8:16; 1 John 3:2; 1 John 5:11-13
X. We believe that the Holy Spirit is a Person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He is the Super-natural Agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the Body of Christ, indwelling, and sealing them unto the day of redemption. John 16:8-11; 1 Cor. 6:19; 1 Cor. 12:13; Eph. 1:13, 14
XI. We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Divine Teacher who guides believers into all truth and all believers are exhorted to be filled with the Spirit. John 16:13,1 John 2:20; Eph. 5:18
XII. We believe sanctification is in two aspects, that God sanctifies, that He sets the believer apart, at the time of our personal salvation (when Christ is personally accepted as Savior and Lord). 1 Cor. 1:30; 1 Cor. 6:11; Heb. 10:10, 14 We experience sanctification progressively as we yield to God, separate from sin, and grow in grace, knowledge, and wisdom. Rom. 12:1, 2; Psalms 119:11; 2 Cor. 3:18; 2 Peter 3:18
XIII. We believe in a separated walk of life. Separated from sinful practices, unbiblical doctrine, and separated unto God for worship and fellowship. 2 Cor. 6:17-18; 2 Cor. 7:1
XIV. We believe that every saved person possesses two natures, with provision made for victory of the new nature over the old nature through the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit; and, that all claims to the eradication of the old nature in this life are unscriptural. Rom. 6:13; Rom. 8:12, 13; Gal. 5:17-25; Eph. 4:22-24; Col. 3:10; 1 Peter 1:14-16; 1 John 3:5-9
XV. We believe in the “blessed hope” the personal, imminent, pre-tribulation, and pre-millennial coming of the Lord Jesus Christ for His redeemed ones; and in His subsequent return to earth, with His saints, to establish His Millennial Kingdom. 1 Thess. 4:13-18; 1 Thess. 1:10; 1 Thess. 5:9; Rev. 3:10; Zech. 14:1-11; Rev.19:11-16; Rev. 20:1-6
XVI. We believe in the bodily resurrection of men, the saved to eternal life; and the unsaved to judgment and everlasting punishment. Matt. 25:46; John 5:28-29; John 11:25, 26
XVII. We believe that the souls of the redeemed are at death, absent from the body and present immediately with the Lord, where in conscious bliss they await the first resurrection when spirit, soul, and body are reunited to be glorified forever with the Lord. Luke 23:45-46; Revelation 20:4-6; 2 Cor. 5:8; Phil. 1:23; Phil. 3:21; 1 Thess. 4:16, 17
XVIII. We believe that the souls of unbelievers remain, after death in conscious misery until the second resurrection, when with souls and body reunited they shall appear at the Great White Throne of judgment, and shall be cast into the lake of fire, not to be annihilated, but to suffer everlasting conscious punishment. Luke 16:19-26; Matt. 25:41-46; 2 Thess. 1:7-9; Jude 1:6, 7; Mark 9:43-48; Rev. 20:11-15
XIX. We believe that Satan is a person, the author of sin, and the cause of the fall, that he is the open and declared enemy of God and man; and that he shall be eternally punished in the lake of fire. Job 1:6; Is. 14:12–17; Matt. 4:2-11; 25:41; Rev. 20:10
XX. We believe the Genesis account of creation (six literal days) and believe that man came by direct creation of God not by evolution. Gen. chapters 1&2; Col 1:16, 17; John 1:3
XXI. We believe that, “by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body”
(1 Cor. 12:13) that it is our privilege as Christians, and also a command of God, that we “be filled with the Spirit, “ but we do not teach a baptism of the Holy Spirit evidenced by speaking in tongues as portrayed by the charismatic movement.
XXII. We believe most emphatically that God is able to heal the body in answer to prayer of faith offered in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, when it is in harmony with His infinite will and divine wisdom to do so, but we do not teach so-called “healing in the atonement.”
XXIII. We believe that through the death of the Lord Jesus Christ on the cross, and the gift of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, there is made possible continued victory over sin in this life, as we “walk in the Spirit” and do not “fulfill the lusts of the flesh,” but we do not teach “holiness” as a “second blessing” in which the old (or Adamic) nature is eradicated.
XXIV. We believe that a local church is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant of faith and fellowship of the Gospel; observing the ordinances of Christ; governed by His laws; and exercising the gifts, rights, and privileges invested in them by His Word; that its officers are pastors, elders, and deacons, whose qualifications, claims, and duties are clearly defined in the Scriptures. We believe that God desires all born again believers to become active members of a local bible believing church, and to submit to its leadership according to scripture. We believe the true mission of the church is the faithful witnessing of Christ to all men as we have opportunity that they might be saved and nurtured in the Word of God and to support like missionary work throughout the world. We hold that the local church has the right of self-government free from the interference of any hierarchy of individuals or organizations; and that the one and only Superintendent is Christ through the Holy Spirit; that it is scriptural for true churches to cooperate with each other in contending for the faith and for the furtherance of the Gospel; that each local church is the sole judge of the measure and method of its cooperation; on all matters of membership of polity, of government, of discipline, of benevolence the will of the local church is final. Acts 2:41, 42; 1 Cor. 11:2, 17-22; Eph. 1:22, 23; Eph. 4:11; Acts 20:17-28; 1 Tim. 3:1-7; Col. 1:18; Eph. 5:23, 24; Acts 15:13-18; Heb. 10:24-25; 13:17
XXV. We believe that the universal church of Jesus Christ is made up of all who have been born again, regardless of color, race, social status, gender or denomination. 1 Cor. 12:13; Gal. 3:26-28
XXVI. We believe that civil government is of divine appointment for the interests and good order of human society; that those in authority are to be prayed for, conscientiously honored, and obeyed; except in things opposed to the will of our Lord Jesus Christ as revealed in the Scriptures. Rom. 13:1-7; 1 Tim. 2:1, 2; Matt. 22:17-21
XXVII. We believe that men and women are equal before God but each have been given unique roles. We believe scripture teaches that men should maintain the leadership role within the home and church. Gen. 2:18-25; Eph. 5:22-33; 1Tim. 2:11-15
XXVIII. We believe that Marriage is only between a man and a woman and is intended to be for life. We believe that sexual activity should be within the confines of marriage between a man and woman. Gen. 2:18-25; Mt. 19:3-9; Heb. 13:4
XXIX. We believe homosexual behavior as well as any sexual activity outside of the bounds of marriage as defined above is not God’s design and therefore sinful whether legally recognized or not. That all sin including sexual immorality of any kind can be forgiven and those involved transformed to live a new life in accord with Christ’s word. Lev. 20:13; Rom. 1:26-27; 1Cor. 6:9-11; Gal. 5:19-21; Eph. 5:6-7; 1Thes. 4:3-8
XXX. We believe that all life begins at conception and therefore any deliberate act of abortion is the murder of a living soul. Ex. 20:13; 21:22-25; Ps. 139:13-16;
XXXI. We believe these Statements of Faith accurately represent the teaching of scripture, but at the same time is only a portion of the truth within the Bible.
